Portrait Procedure
Mr. Sergei Trubnik's & Mr. Boris Volshov's & Mr. Michail Chapiro's
extensive experiences in portraiture allow them to work comfortably from
life or from photographs. When working strictly from photos is necessary,
in the instances when clients have busy schedules or with children for whom
it is difficult to sit for extended periods, or for posthumous portraits
and those commissioned as a surprise, the 3 artists apply their knowledge
of working from life, also acquired through in-depth academic training,
which is recognized by generations of artists to be essential in the
formation of the strong artistic skill.
The great portrait stands far beyond photography. Therefore, the 3 artists
do not copy a photograph, but successfully uses a large selection of
photographs as portrait references, applying their natural understanding of
anatomy, colors, light and composition to achieve a remarkable and full of
character life-like likeness.
The initial meeting with the client usually takes two and a half hours and
is scheduled at the artist's studio or the client's location. At this
initial meeting, the overall idea, size and location where the portrait
will be hung are discussed. If photographs of the subject are required, the
artist will take several rolls of film at this time and as well, do live
graphite character studies.
Any photos provided by the client will be returned upon portrait
completion.
A 40% deposit is required during the preparation session, with the balance
due upon acceptance of the final product.
